Our Story

Pace University, Pleasantville, is located in the historic Hudson Valley, a region known for its rich history of art. Nestled between the countryside of Westchester County and the urban terrain of New York City is a community of writers who find themselves in the most auspicious of spaces, free to walk Emersonian paths and explore Manhattan’s cement-topped trails that have inspired countless poets, writers, scholars, and activists.

Writing and Rhetoric

Writing and Rhetoric focuses on the arts of writing and critical thinking through different lenses, including composition theory, digital and cultural rhetorics, creative and professional writing, literacy studies, and new media. The program teaches students to see the world with greater texture and nuance and produce work that enacts change as they become engaged citizens and active professionals in careers and graduate programs for which the development, analysis, and synthesis of texts are essential.

Flexibility

The Writing and Rhetoric B.A. was created with curriculum and course flexibility in mind. While all students in the program will take LIT 205 and ENG 206 as introductory or gateway courses, they are afforded the freedom to develop an academic sequence of courses that fit their writerly identities and professional aspirations.

Internships

Helping students enter the workforce is a top priority. In the Writing and Rhetoric program, students may begin internships as early as the first semester of their junior year. Since experiment and experience are integral to finding a career post-graduation, students are encouraged take up to nine internship credits (3 classes).
